LaMATS Supports LAMSA Conference, Welcomes New Officers
LaMATS was proud to sponsor the March 21-23 Annual Spring Conference of the Louisiana Association of Municipal Secretaries and Assistants (LAMSA) and to offer scholarships to facilitate member attendance. LaMATS Executive Director Cliff Palmer recognized and thanked outgoing LAMSA President Hilda Edwards for her outstanding leadership of the association for the past two years. The conference, held at the Paragon Casino and Resort in Marksville, opened with remarks from Louisiana Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser and featured important training sessions offered by Cliff Palmer, Karen White, Ron Anderson and Steve Morgan. State Senator Gerald Long (R-Dist. 31) and a full Mayors’ Panel offered insight on local and state government. Certifications were awarded to Maranda Washington of Rayville, Yvonne Lewis of Tallulah, Benita Augustine of Mansura and Latoicha Jones of Shreveport. As well, a new LAMSA board of directors was elected during the gathering.
“We’re looking forward to growing even stronger in the future as we move toward our 30th anniversary in 2019,” says Myra Streeter, LAMSA’s incoming President.
