Rayne Mayor Expands Drainage Diplomacy

Charles Robichaux, the first term Mayor of Rayne, Louisiana, has had a busy summer sharing his city’s Award-winning drain clearing system with neighboring municipalities, starting with Ville Platte and Bogalusa back in June. Recently, Mayor Robichaux and his staff have expanded their outreach to Eunice, Abbeville and Kaplan, where Rayne’s low-tech, low-cost approach to clearing badly clogged city drains of sediment (a.k.a. “gumbo mud”) has proven effective and much appreciated in this flood-prone region of the state.

LMA's subsidiary, LaMATS, has taken a role in promoting Rayne’s home-grown technology statewide as part of its mission to provide technical service and advice to Louisiana municipalities. LaMATS Executive Director Cliff Palmer applauds Mayor Robichaux’s initiative and generosity, "The true spirit of the LMA is in coming together—community with community and leader to leader—to solve our common challenges,” said Palmer. To learn more about Rayne’s drain clearing technology and to schedule a demonstration, please contact LaMATS at: (225) 344-5001
