LPS Surplus Property Program Surpasses $2 Million in Sales

For the past five years LaMATS has partnered with GovDeals to offer an online auction marketplace that allows municipalities to easily sell declared surplus from utility vehicles, computers, furniture, heavy equipment, real estate, and more, itemizing over 100 different categories with a dedicated buyer base for each.

“We have a resolution prepared that we send to a municipality that wishes to sell," explained Procurement Consultant Paul Holmes. "They fill in the blanks, have it declared surplus by their council, and return it to us."

“We currently have over 70 municipalities that participate,” commented Claire Shaw, Program Coordinator for LaMATS. "We are thrilled to have served our municipalities by helping to put money back into their operating budget.”

After receiving the details on the property and pictures, the item is posted for 10 days, after which LaMATS administrators call the Mayor and Council to accept or decline the highest bid. This is all done at no cost to the city, town or village, and all legal requirements are met.

In recognition of LaMATS’s exceptional performance in support of this program, GovDeals Account Manager Mason Slay presented LaMATS with a certificate of appreciation for having reached $2 million in sales.
