According to a notice released by the Louisiana Public Service Commission, debt collection calls are prohibited in Louisiana due to the Emergency Declaration for communities affected by Hurricane Laura.

The relevant portion of the notice reads: “…During a state of emergency as declared by the governor, while the Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness requires the Louisiana Public Service Commission to report to the Emergency Operations Center ("EOC"), no telephonic solicitor shall engage in any form of telephonic solicitation…The state of emergency, 108 JBE 2020 extends from August 21, 2020, through September 20, 2020, unless terminated sooner.”

This order effectively suspends LaMATS current Municipal Debt Recovery service on behalf of participating local governments, but that service will resume as soon as possible following termination of the current declared state of emergency.
