LMA Executive Director Richard Williams, LaMATS Executive Director Cliff Palmer, and members of their respective boards and staff wish to congratulate Louisiana Rural Water Association (LRWA) Deputy Director Rusty Reeves on his recently announced retirement.
Beginning as a water operator and general manager at West Allen Parish Water District, Reeves joined the LRWA 29 years ago, serving as deputy director for the past 20. He leaves behind a legacy of leadership, program coordination, disaster assistance, conference planning, and employee training and certification administered across all 64 Louisiana parishes. Reeves earned many titles and positions in his tenure, along with serving on several state boards and committees.
In 2008, Reeves was called on by the National Rural Water Association (NRWA) to assist in orientation of new hires; a position he proudly held for 13 years.
“I’ve seen many rules change over the years, and it wasn’t easy to adjust to new compliance,” said Reeves. “But I can honestly say it led us to producing a much better product for the people in this state than we have had in the past 30 years."
"Rusty will be sorely missed in the rural water industry,” said LaMATS Board President Mayor Michael Chauffe.
“He excelled in teaching others due to his genuine wisdom and knowledge of water and wastewater.”
"Rusty was a trusted leader and friend,” Palmer proclaimed. “We are truly grateful for his long-time support of LaMATS.”
