Lt. Gov. Crowned Cotton Fest King

VILLE PLATTE—During this year's Cotton Festival in Ville Platte, LaMATS board member and Ville Platte Mayor, Jennifer Vidrine, crowned Louisiana's Lt. Gov. Billy Nungesser King of the Cotton Festival for 2017.

Ms.Tara Elizabeth Babin of Gonzales was crowned Queen Cotton 64th.

According to the website louisianacottonfestival.com, Ville Platte's Cotton Festival is held each year in October. The Louisiana Cotton Festival Association was incorporated in 1953 to organize the annual event, which is reported to have been started by World War II Veterans as part of their traditional July 4th celebration.

The Mayor's ceremonial Crowning of King & Queen Cotton occurred on Saturday, October 14, at 5:30 PM.
