Memorial Celebration for Julian Dufreche

Julian Dufreche

The Louisiana Community Development Authority (LCDA) recently honored their late chairman, Julian Dufreche, by paying an emotional tribute during their annual Board of Directors meeting in Baton Rouge. Dufreche passed away in January 2017, leaving an indelible mark on the residents of Ponchatoula and Tangipahoa Parish as the longest-serving elected official from this community.

LCDA officers and staff welcomed Chairman Dufreche’s family including, Janet (wife), Strader and Julieanne (daughters), Melissa (daughter-in-law), and Danny (brother), and presented the family with a beautiful memorial to recognize the 20 years of selfless service to the Authority and 42 years in elected office.

LCDA Chairman Mack Dellafosse, Woodworth Mayor and LCDA Executive Board member David Butler, Executive Director Ty Carlos, and long-time friend, Gordon King, offered the family many heartfelt stories about how Julian had impacted their lives and the organizations they represent.

Dufreche is recognized throughout the state for his leadership in the Louisiana Municipal Association as a board member and past president. Few have given as much as a public servant than Julian Dufreche who will be remembered for his great love of family, community and volunteerism. In Julian's own words: “If you don’t have God, family and friends, you have nothing.”
