LaMATS Teams with Government Capital Corp
A new cooperative program agreement signed this week between LaMATS and Government Capital Corporation (GCC), a leading provider of financing to local governments, will enhance the access of LMA members to cost-effective financing of movable equipment. With more than a quarter-century of experience in tax-exempt financing, GCC brings deep understanding of municipalities’ unique needs and opportunities and will work to develop a wide range of funding solutions for various lease-purchases. “LaMATS recognizes the dedication and expertise of [GCC Vice President] D.C. Greer and Government Capital,” said LaMATS Executive Director Cliff Palmer. “When any municipality is considering a lease-purchase of moveable equipment, LaMATS endorses Government Capital as the ‘go-to’ company to learn more about the financing process.” Recent examples of GCC’s work on behalf of LMA members include assistance given to the City of Ville Platte on financing a fleet of 17 new city vehicles. GCC also provided financing for the Town of Franklin for the recent purchase of a backhoe-loader. “We’re excited about our partnership with LaMATS” stated GCC’s D.C. Greer. “Finding ways to strengthen our longtime support of Louisiana’s local government has been a constant goal at Government Capital.” In addition to providing proven finance expertise and tools, this new teaming agreement will assist members by helping to underwrite, in the form of “scholarships,” the attendance of municipal staff to important educational events such as the Clerks’ Institute, LAMSA and NGIP.
